Angela Stallings

Angela Stallings testified on direct examination as the Colleton County Sheriff's Office Administrative Services captain, explaining how the county's 911 system recorded and stored calls. She said recording began when a connected call started ringing, access to stored records was limited, and cell-tower routing could send calls through neighboring counties.

Stallings testified that a call transferred from Hampton County reached Colleton County at 10:07:09 p.m. on June 7, 2021, identified Alex Murdaugh as the caller, and was accurately preserved on the offered disc. The recording was played for the jury. She also explained that apparent breaks occurred because the automated system stopped recording during silence and resumed when it detected speech.
